Coca-cola trade cards

I love vanilla Coke! :) Though I am not sure if that had anything to do with me suddenly received two Coca-cola related cards recently. And these are very cool cards indeed!

This is an image reproduction from 1930. Well, I love to share some fun facts I found about Coca-cola here:

  • Coca Cola was first invented by a pharmacist name John Pemberton in 1885 as a medicine to cure headaches.
  • Coca-Cola is called “Coca-Cola” because of the original ingredients used in the medicine, Coca leaves and Kola seeds. Wine was also added in place of sugar similar to the coke we drink today.
  • When Mentos is added to Coca-Cola, the carbon dioxide in the coke will be rapidly released, causing the coke in the bottle to burst out. Diet coke works the best.
  • Coca-Cola can be used to help cure jellyfish stings.
  • Coca-Cola can also be used as a cleaning solution, cleaning anything from rusty pans to dirty toilets. It can also be used to remove odor.
  • If you accidentally got gum in your hair, rinse it in coca-cola and the gum will come of very easily (!)
  • Coca-Cola usually have the phrase “Original Formula” near the bottom of their cans/bottles, but it is not actually “original”, since in 1985, a portion of the sugar in Coca-Cola was removed and replaced by high fructose corn syrup, causing an altered taste as well as causing the coke to become unhealthy.

And another is an official, US-367399 from Bast. LOL I love this card! It’s a reprint of Coca-cola trade card from 1910.

    Oh yeah??

    Beograd – Belgrade

This is my first entry of Serbia postcards, and I haven’t got many postcards from there anyway but I received this snowy card a couple of months ago and I thought I could put it with another Belgrade card I received sometime last year. As you know Belgrade is the capital of Serbia, and was also the capital of Yugoslavia and Serbia-Montenegro in the past… and it’s obviously one of the oldest cities in Europe.

From BraveJ. This artistic atmosphere with untouched snow is in Skadarlija, an old part of Belgrade with its bohemian features from the late 19th century where its taverns were frequently visited by the city’s famous writers, actors, musicians and painters. There are still many restaurants here that serve traditional food and where you can hear traditional music… well it does sound like a perfect hangout place for me :)

From Tram. This vintage reprint card shows the Novi Dvor, or the New Royal Palace of Belgrade, as it used to be. Today it houses the Presidency of Serbia. Novi Dvor was built between 1913 and 1918 as official royal court of Serbia.

    Animal kingdom together with people

I tagged several times in Animal Kingdom Together with People tag in the forum and it’s always nice to find out which animal they paired with a human on a postcard :) You typical guess must be a cat, or a dog,.. well but what if I say I have received an awesome postcard from Germany showing a pair of human and ELEPHANT??

From Starrysky. YAY :D I’m wondering what lesson the big guy is taking from the man.. and is he trying to look at the notes as well?? I didn’t know an elephant can actually read! :D This postcard comes with a title “Elefant Auf Der Bank” (Elephant in the Bank).

From Nordbaer. This pretty vintage photo reprint from late 1800s of a well-dressed young man with his loyal friend.
