French comics and matching stamps

I have received several comic cards from France and no, they are not from a same set or comic, but I grouped them into this post coz each of them comes with a matching stamp! So this time I have to scan the stamps as well… (which I usually don’t).

fr-stamp-3

From Cgie36. I thought it was a bear, but Cecile wrote that he’s Cubitus from a French and Belgian comic, he is a silly dog who from time to time has very phylosophical thoughts :D On the stamp he says: “I’m the one stamp in the world which can be stroked the right way.”

fr-stamp-2

From Pazzolina. This is Becassine, and I guess it’s from an old comic in France coz this stamp commemorate 100 year old of Becassine in 2005… so it means the comic has exsited since 1905.. amazing! Becassine is a very naive girl who left Brittany to work in Paris as a maid, and having alot of (mis)adventures in Paris because she’s a countrygirl and hardly manages herself in a big city. I would love to read this comic!

From Sylv1. And this is Le Chat, first appeared in 1984 in Le Soir. He is an adult, human-sized cat who often comes up with elaborate reasonings and takes metaphors literally… :D
Le Chat: ”and the human contact in all this?”
Computer: “take your elbow away from my keyboard.”

fr-stamp-1

- “Sending a letter.. is a game of skill”
- “The back of a sticky stamp is an excellent flypaper.”

Hägar the Horrible

I love Finland because almost every cool stuff can be found as a form of postcards!! Comics for example… and they have loads of them printed on postcards.. therefore it’s like you have 2 in 1 of something cool to keep!! Comics and postcards! :) And these are Hägar the Horrible, a comic strip that I thought a bit familiar before, but I can’t remember if I had read any. Foreign comic strips especially from the West, like Garfield, Betty Boop etc are only featured in English newspapers here, and I don’t get to read them often coz at home my dad only buys Malay newspapers. But of course, from time to time I get to read comics online nowadays.. like here for example. So about Hagar! The comic strip was first seen in 1973 and is about a medieval Scandinavian life and vikings and has been featured in newspapers in 58 countries with 13 languages!

Now let’s go to the postcards.. and as they’re in Finnish, I’ll simply write the translation which the senders wrote.

From Taavina.
– “Women don’t have any sense of humor!”
*POK!*
- “Hey! That was not funny!”

From Suuparei.
– “So, getting old is a question of attitude?”
- “No, not attitude but.. position of your wrist!”

From Talas.
– “Women hate lazy men.”
- “Why?”
- “I have no idea. But who would understand women anyway!”

Hagar is sure funny!! I love the strips from the websites a lot!!.. So many to choose but here’s one:

Lass uns Deutsch lernen

Ich habe einige Postkarten aus Deutschland mit den deutschen text auf sie.. auch wenn ich nicht Deutsch lernen, aber ich finde es interessan.. OKAY who am I kidding now? :P The earlier sentences are obviously gotten from online translator hehe.. I am not learning German but I quite love how it sounds… at least in Marius Müller’s songs :) And I suppose this is a linguistic entry for my Germany postcards. Let’s learn German! :D

From Karin, with a springtime song:

We are ploughing and sowing
the seeds into the earth
but it’s God who lets
it grow and flourish.

All benefits
are coming from God
therefore we say thank you,
thank you very much,
and we have confidence in Him.

From Swan, with a proverb:

“You can’t do something great everyday,
but for sure you can always do something good.”

From Sarah, with a legendary saying:

An Ulm sparrow is not stupid,
if one doesn’t get in straight,
he just tilts the stem!

From Geheimnis.

“Many greetings from Waterkant.”

DE-301818 from Sonja, with a delicious creamy coffee message:

“Thinking of you!”
