PFF – Vejen der ikke starter i hjertet…

I received these AWESOME cards from Smist in 2006 and may I repeat, I LOVE cards written on it in languages strange to me.. in fact I love the idea of Postcrossing not only I can get to see pictures of places faraway on postcards.. but get familiar with the languages as well! Especially the European languages, yes, which I don’t see a sight of anywhere here.. except English. So I am glad I keep postcards of them! Okay – nevermind that I don’t learn every single language in this world, but I feel smart enough when I can distiguish a text, say, in French, from German! :P (tell you, my friends here won’t manage that!) Anyway, here comes Danish! :D

“Vejen der ikke starter i hjertet ender blindt”
“The course that does not begin in the heart ends in a blind alley”.

These cards were published by a university in Denmark to say that the education you choose should feel *right* to your heart :) Of course, it doesn’t make sense to spend years studying something you don’t feel close to your heart, no?

And another card with the same quote, only written with many different languages!! Ain’t this cool? :) But I don’t see Malay in here, hmm.. that would be more or less, “Pembelajaran yang tidak bermula dari hati akan berakhir dengan kegelapan”..

Now that my subject is language, how do you say “HAPPY POSTCARD FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY” in your language? (if it’s not English ;))

Selamat Hari Jumaat Persahabatan Poskad!! :D

Brazilian traditional costume

I can’t remember if I had postcards of traditional costume from countries except in Europe and Asia, but I happen to have a couple from Brazil, which is great! And these pictures are like as if they’re on a set of film shooting or something :D

The man is doing the traditional cigarette Cigarro de Palha - basically a bunch of tobacco rolled by a straw of maize. And I love the dress the woman is wearing! :)

This is some traditional barbecue with the floor fire, and man drinking Chimarrão, a kind of baverage with green tea. Drinking Chimarrão is a common social practice in Brazil.

Opetellaan Suomea!

It’s time for another linguistic post! What we have now? Finnish! :D I love cards with text of some foreign language written on it.. can be poems, quotes, songs.. but I don’t have any in Malay here (Notice: Malaysia is BORING when it comes to postcards selection..). I’d better move to Finland!

“Tips for lonely men
To a singing class,and quick
A guitar or a horn in the hand,
or any kind of fluit
something that beeps even a little
A player boy with red cheeks
is welcomed
even though he just drove all the other men out of the door”

“Nightless night colours the surface of the lake
Night and morning go side by side
Don`t let the moment slip away,
treasure it,carefully save it in your mind”

if you just have a little bit of luck”

From Ultzi.

“To a bokworm
your walls don’t seem to need wallpaper
You could cover them with books.
Though noticed I have,
you could turn your mailing address to the library.
But I would, if I was a writer
weite a bestseller of our friendship.”

From Mingshu.

“The most important thing in life is not where we are but where we are heading.”

From Kuaka.

“Good moments are even better when you share them.”

without wisps of clouds and daisies.”
