Norge – Norway

Most of my Norway postcards came from Coveralls, including an official one. But here I’m including only those saying “Norge” on the cards :) though I am not sure how to pronounce it properly.. I should check.

A Norway map! And pretty views of Nordkapp, Lofoten, Trondheim, Geiranger, Preikestolen and Lindesnes.. I hope they’re the places names and in the order.

Oh, beautiful Polar bears here! I have always wanted a teddy bear this huge, one you can always hug whenever you need someone or something to hug but a furry big thing like this looks much much warmer.

Norwegian little girls with chubby cheeks in traditional costume.

USA State Maps, Part 1

Though I don’t actually have map cards as my favorite, I just realized they can be really great sometimes! Apparently I have digged out all the state map cards from USA I have received so far. And now that I have come up with an entry of US state map cards, don’t be surprised if I become excited to get more to complete the collection, hence a new blog entry with Part 2, and 3, and 4.. I know many people are doing this so I will, too! Anyways I’ll just write down what is written on the cards.

Oregon from Mavin (US-50819).

Michigan from Andrea. On January 26, 1837, Michigan was the 26th state admitted to the Union. The State Capitol, elected in 1878, houses the legislative and administrative branches of state government. Visitors are welcome to tour the building located in Lansing, Michigan.

Pennsylvania from Krhocevar. Because of its central location among the original 13 states in the USA, Pennsylvania received the nickname “The Keystone State”. State animal: White-tailed Deer. Tree: Hemlock. Insect: Firefly. Flower: Mountain Laurel.

Oklahoma Indian Territories From Gridlock. Indian removal Act of 1830 started the relocation of various Indian tribes to Indian Territory, now known as the State of Oklahoma whch means Red Man’s Land. Indians from these many groups are still found in much the same original locations.

Oklahoma Indian Territories from Anita. Okay, this was among the mysterious cards, dated back in 2005. It doesn’t have any ID. I don’t think it’s a tag or RAS (well RAS still didn’t exist).. I can assume it’s a swap but I am not sure if I found any track of it, so I’m just afraid if it’s an official(!?) though I didn’t do anything to track down the sender because…. I simply didn’t know how to, and later it was totally forgotten! What to do now? Is it possible? I mean, after 3 years??

In 1834, 70000 Native Americans in over 20 tribes were forced to leave their land and relocate into Indian Territory, reserved by the US government. Located west of the Mississippi river, much of Indian Territory is in today’s Oklahoma. By 1907, the remaining Indian Territory became part of Oklahoma.

Nebraska from Gridlock. “The Cornhusker State”. Entered the Union: March 1st 1867 (13th). Motto: Equality Before The Law. 1981 Population: 1,553,000. Area in Square Miles: 77,227. State Capital: Lincoln.

And can you believe that Gridlock has got Mickey Mouse for his name rubber stamp?

grdlock

I mean, Mickey Mouse???? HAHAHA.

Washington Cascade Loop from Kungli. Washington State’s Cascade Loop is a must while visiting the Pacific Northwest. Extending from the greenery of the Puver Sound to sunny Eastern Washington. The route passes through the Cascade Mountians twice and offers spectacular scenery, recreation, and many of the state’s main tourist attractions.

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia is a Canadian province located in the southeastern coast of Canada. And to be honest I never heard about Nova Scotia until I received postcards from there.

The Sullivan’s Pond, which is located near Lake Banook, is a perfect area for a walk or to feed ducks, or just to relax. I mean, there are really ducks swimming in the pond!! :D In Dartmouth there are 22 lakes hence the nickname City of Lakes.

Oh I just fell in love with illustrated map cards like this :) So at first glance you might guess Nova Scotia as an island, no? Well, I did. But it’s actually a peninsula. On this card it says Nova Scotia as “Canada’s ocean playground” :)
