Egyptian ancient art

The only Egypt postcards I received are from my penpal Nada. In 2007 my aunty went to visit Egypt and bought me some postcards but I still didn’t fancy plain unwritten cards so I chose to send most of them away on swaps and only kept a few that I liked most (I thought I have scanned them, but somehow missing from the Flickr). Anyways. Here are postcards from Nada, both showing the art from ancient Egypt.

This art was drawn on a piece of timber skin, showing the goddess Maat and Hathor. However, even Nada doesn’t know who Maat was.

This art was drawn on the Tomb of Sennufer Pharaoh. Its colors are still there althought it has some damage now. Come to think about it, this was a masterpiece of people from 4000 years back. Amazing, isn’t it?

Happy (belated) Christmas

I only receive Christmas cards from penpals and Postcrossers. I don’t celebrate Christmas in here, but it’s always good to receive pretty cards showing all those winter season, the Santa, Christmas tree, pretty gift boxes! I was in Saudi Arabia throughout last December and there was no Christmas in there definitely, but when I returned home some pretty cards really put a smile in my face. Here are some greetings coming all the way from Finland last  years.

From Vixen saying Oiken hauskaa Joulua ja Onnellista Uutta Vuotta 2007!

FI-109984 from Hanna.

From Misteli. Now that I have seen this card again, I guess it’s the first postcard I received from Finland, dated back in 2005.

FI-101508 from Marilii. Oh I love Wagner! Hahaha. He’s ugly but sure funny.

From Piki.

From ajvilla.

From Peppi06. This classy illustration belongs to Martta Wendelin (1893-1986), a Finnish famous artist.

Hope everyone already had a great Christmas! And Happy New Year :)

Well and organized

I am talking about my postcards. They have been sitting inside the huge box as long as I can remember, but recently I made a huge effort to go browse them one by one and arrange them according to country name alphabetically. Duh!

I don’t know how many of them are exactly. But according to my Flickr the number is 1358. And after May 2008 I didn’t get to scan and upload my postcards anymore. And below are some of the postcards received afterwards, which I think are around 200 or so. I still can’t put them together before I don’t get them scanned and uploaded. Yes I do my tracking this way so even if I don’t have time and scanner now I just have to wait until I do.

This is on my bed last night when I was browsing them again. Okay so I sleep with my postcards, but who cares? :P
