Postcard Friendship Friday in Holland!

Once upon a time in Holland, there lived a girl named Little.

Young Little and her mom and brother lived in a village where there was a huge windmill. Like everyone else in Holland at that time, they wore wooden shoes.. but they looked very comfortable.

One day, Little and her friends went to watch the sails at the sea. They had a great time there. But once she realized that everyone but her seemed to have a boyfriend. Little felt so lonely.

Little’s friends along with the boys went to pick blue tulips in the field and left her alone. Not that blue tulips really existed, but everything seemed to be blue at that time anyway. Little was very sad, but not for long…

Coz later, she got a boyfriend too, yay! And he’s even cuter! Little also got to dress in a beautiful colorful costume which has real stitching on this postcard! Cool, isn’t it? They continued picking colorful tulips and lived happily ever after.  Little and Littleboy wish everyone a Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

P.S. The above Dutch postcards were sent by my lovely buddies Littlebloempje, Lauraarual, Eowyn and Vessie.. thanks a bunch and somehow Imajica managed to come up with this weird short story :P

Finnish summer cottages

When I was making an entry with Finnish snowy country houses last time, I mentioned something that I would show my Finnish country houses in summertime as well, though I am not too sure these were taken during summer but okay – it’s not snowing at least. Plus in most of these cards the senders like to call it “summer cottages” which I guess it’s a European term, where you have a cottage in the countryside to live during summer holiday. And people in Finland do have pretty summer cottages I simply adore to live in!

From Napu. She said almost everyone in Finland had a summer cottage near sea or lake (except her..) and it could be a real house with electricity and washing machine, etc or just a little red cottage without any comforts but beautiful nature around.

From Iinaj. Ohh I love a cottage near a lake like this!!

From Miaumeow. The cottages are often painted red.. which I am not sure why but red is a traditional color in Finland. And these little cottages are called “granny cottages” :D and usually with one room and a small kitchen.

From Katjus. If red color is traditionally used to paint the cottages, the windows are usually painted white! The basic idea is they use natural coloring materials, hence red and white.. I guess.

From Tiiti. This is a farm house where they are making hays in traditional way.

From Peppi06. This one looks a bit posh with a little fence. It’s a rented cottage in Nauvo, a Finnish archipelago near Turku. Many Finns have a summer cottage here. You must get a ferryboat to Nauvo, which according to Peppi a very beautiful place, and it does look so!

From Dollart. Tiny fence and path and little flower garden.. ohh this is my perfect summer cottage!! I don’t even mind to live here all year around either :)

From Wilma. “Summer is here again…” as it’s written here. And yes, summer seems very beautiful with bright greeny field like this.

Bulgaria

I have featured a few postcards of Sofia in this post, but now I am making an entry for Bulgaria coz I want to put this neat map card of the country.. I still can’t believe nobody in the postcards publishers here bother to make map postcards of Malaysia :( They only know to keep recycling same old photos that I am more than bored to see at the shops!

I just feel like including this postcard along even though it’s from Mizia region, but I guess on this colorful card you can have general idea of how Bulgarian costume, tradition, nature, castles and homes are like.
