Istanbul

This is my first entry of Turkey and here are postcards from Istanbul, its historic, largest city.

From Countess_ofDark. The bridge is the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge which connects the Asian and European shores of Istanbul and crossing Bosphorus straits. The construction of the bridge completed in 1988 and it was named after Sultan Mehmet of 15th century Ottoman.

TR-16317 from Lole. A sunset view with shades of two gorgeous architecture in Istanbul: Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia) and Sultanahmet (the Blue Mosque). The Hagia Sophia is especially one of the most significant and earliest landmarks of Turkey, during its timeline for thousands of years since its construction in 532 AD it used to be a cathederal, then a mosque, and now a museum.

From Ctrekoza. This is another great historical Ottoman architecture, the Süleymaniye Mosque built by Sultan Suleiman I in 1550. It is the second largest mosque in the city. Somehow I have a feeling that these huge buildings in Istanbul are almost identical to each other, wouldn’t you say? With the dome and minarets and color and style almost identical. I can’t really tell which is which.
