I never thought I would still be receiving birthday cards from Postcrossers this year, I mean, after the long hiatus last year and awkward comeback I hardly knew many people anymore in the beginning, but who would have thought, some neat buddies on the forum have been kind enough and instantly become dear friends I wish I had known them much earlier :) (and you know who you are :)) Well, these are some cards, arrived to celebrate my so-called birthday this year. I am happy to say they have really brightened my day and made me so special in a way that there do exist people out there who care enough to write so lovely wishes on pretty cards despite that they’re far away from me! So MY DEARS, READ THIS: I LOVE YOU!! :)

OK this is not from Postcrosser at least. My dearest penpal Sonia whose letters had failed to reach me these past few years, but after over one year, she replied my letter again and with this lovely card recently. In fact, throughout our friendship, she has always remembered my birthday.. although I didnt manage to remember hers this much! :/

From Anagahan. So this is the first birthday card from a Postcrosser arrived this year, and I am glad it came from a dear friend of GTKY. Thanks Ana, if you ever read this, you know you’ve been special to me! :)

HI! I knew about Postcard Friendship Friday from Ana‘s blog, so I have been following Marie‘s blog since, and I have always wanted to join PFF but before I knew it I had always missed my Fridays! However I just came back from a beach this morning (had some lovely star-seeing last night) so I thought I’d make use of my Friday now :D Hmm, but which card to choose for my first PFF post? You bet, I’ll feature a Macedonia postcard from Ana this time… coz if it wasn’t from her blog, I wouldn’t have come to PFF. YAY!

From Anagahan, with a view from her hometown Skopje. If you see this as just another typical city view postcard of Skopje, you’re wrong :) Coz what makes this card really appealing to me, is the fact that Ana wrote to me in 100% Croatian! :P Okay, for some unfunny reason I used to try learning Croatian (or Bosnian if you prefer) years ago but never actually made too much effort on that… but at least I can understand what the message says! Well, sort of. I mean, let’s say, you already knew a few words by default like “zdravo”.. “učis”.. “znaš”.. “zivim”.. “razglednica”.. “reku”.. “most”.. “pozdrava”.. and that’s actually enough for you to just simply figure out that the message should be more or less, “Hello! .. blablabla.. when you wrote that you’re learning Croatian.. blablabla.. like you already know, I live in Skopje, and this postcard shows Vadar River (?) (the most-something in Macedonia) and Kamen bridge.. which is ??? one of the most–something historical (something).. blablabla.. greetings” See? I can understand it! Anyway, after a proper check from dictionary: the river most-longest in Macedonia, and the bridge which is one of the most significant historical sights :) Alright, I am a hopeless lazy language learner but still it’s fun to challange myself to read messages like this! And oh, sorry, a PFF post shouldn’t be a linguistic post… but Happy PFF everyone!! :)
