Welsh traditional costume

Today I received an official card from Great Britain. But no, I haven’t scanned it yet, but in the meantime, I’ll feature some traditional costume postcards from there. Or precisely, from Wales.

From Tigerlily. Ugh, again this was from the sappy-scanner time, so pardon the blur image. Can you read the text anyway? I like postcards with long description written like this, and especially it’s on the picture side, so it saves me from re-writing it here again :P So you.. just read the text please :) One thing I notice about traditional costumes in Europe, the women’s dress always always have an apron hanging with the skirt, I don’t know if it has a certain use (like to wipe hands? :P) or just part of the fashion.

GB-5651 from ?? unknown! In fact, on the back of the card, the sender just pasted a small piece of paper, printed on it “I’M ARTIST, LIVE IN YORKSHIRE. Wales is where I used to live”. That’s all, without name, just the ID number. Hmm.. maybe artists in Yorkshire are too busy to write even a Hello and a few more sentences on postcards :) Okay, the other picture is the St David’s Cathedral (it’s printed on card, thankfully, otherwise I wouldn’t have known).

London

Let’s go to London once again since I have received a few more postcards from there lately.. :) Last time I have featured a postcard of the Tower Bridge here… go back read it coz I’m not re-introduce the bridge again :P

GB-38576 from Rafail. This is a perfect postcard to represent London :) The Tower Bridge, and this man is the Town crier to the Mayor of London. A town crier is employed by a town council to make public announcements in the streets.

DE-290873 from Tina. With some more views of the famous Tower Bridge.

From Lauraarual… she bought this card on her recent London trip! Here’s one of the most familiar symbols of London obviously… the red double decker bus! These red buses have been among the most important public transports in London for more than half a century!

Cornish cottages

Cornwall is a county in England, located in the end tip of the south-western peninsula of Great Britain, and it’s the homeland of Cornish people. Perhaps Cornwall has alot of beautiful cottage houses, because.. look at these postcards.

GB-11421 from Jim. He lives in a house looking like the one at bottom right picture. Really lovely, right? And so are the others. They’re like houses in the children stories I always had in my mind. Plus they’re very near to the sea :) I want to live here! Really I do!

From Janina in Germany. OMG, now that I put these two postcards near to each other, I have just realized that this Cornish cottage is also in the first postcard! (bottom right one – the one’s like Jim’s house). HAHAHA how could I not notice this before. This cottage must be real cool that many postcards feature its picture. See? I have actually many chain-related postcards in my collection! How nice :) *Gotta find some more..*
