Finnish summer cottages

When I was making an entry with Finnish snowy country houses last time, I mentioned something that I would show my Finnish country houses in summertime as well, though I am not too sure these were taken during summer but okay – it’s not snowing at least. Plus in most of these cards the senders like to call it “summer cottages” which I guess it’s a European term, where you have a cottage in the countryside to live during summer holiday. And people in Finland do have pretty summer cottages I simply adore to live in!

From Napu. She said almost everyone in Finland had a summer cottage near sea or lake (except her..) and it could be a real house with electricity and washing machine, etc or just a little red cottage without any comforts but beautiful nature around.

From Iinaj. Ohh I love a cottage near a lake like this!!

From Miaumeow. The cottages are often painted red.. which I am not sure why but red is a traditional color in Finland. And these little cottages are called “granny cottages” :D and usually with one room and a small kitchen.

From Katjus. If red color is traditionally used to paint the cottages, the windows are usually painted white! The basic idea is they use natural coloring materials, hence red and white.. I guess.

From Tiiti. This is a farm house where they are making hays in traditional way.

From Peppi06. This one looks a bit posh with a little fence. It’s a rented cottage in Nauvo, a Finnish archipelago near Turku. Many Finns have a summer cottage here. You must get a ferryboat to Nauvo, which according to Peppi a very beautiful place, and it does look so!

From Dollart. Tiny fence and path and little flower garden.. ohh this is my perfect summer cottage!! I don’t even mind to live here all year around either :)

From Wilma. “Summer is here again…” as it’s written here. And yes, summer seems very beautiful with bright greeny field like this.

Snow in Finland

I was watching Eurovision final last night.. and… not that I expected anyone to win (well, Estonia was good though) but why the hell is everyone in the world getting crazy over this Norwegian boy?????? Hmm I don’t feel like commenting, as much I don’t feel like writing much today :P so… I chose some postcards that don’t need me to write much. Haha. What would that be? You see.. these famous snowy scenes in Finland. I mean, yes, I love snow and snowy views are beautiful I wish I could be in those places, BUT when I receive such postcards, I can’t get any information about it (like what? When? Where? Why?) You know, except from it’s a view in Finland.. somewhere…. and that’s all. Hmm, nevermind, we’ll just take a look at the pictures then.

Garfield!

Okay, Garfield ain’t from Finland but they do publish Garfield postcards in there, how cool is that? :D These are a few Garfields I received from Finnish Postcrossers, and given that I have loved Garfield since school years, these cards are absolutely among my favorites!

From Zeeta. This card came with that bite mark! Who ate my postcard half?? Probably this sleepy Garfield. He says, “I would like moreof the mornings is they started late” :D I think EXACTLY like you do, Garfield!

From Snow. “Congratulations!” and this is for my 23rd birthday!! Snow shares birthday with me, yay!

From Mimma. Garfield is funny enough already he doesn’t even need to be a clown!
