I received these AWESOME cards from Smist in 2006 and may I repeat, I LOVE cards written on it in languages strange to me.. in fact I love the idea of Postcrossing not only I can get to see pictures of places faraway on postcards.. but get familiar with the languages as well! Especially the European languages, yes, which I don’t see a sight of anywhere here.. except English. So I am glad I keep postcards of them! Okay – nevermind that I don’t learn every single language in this world, but I feel smart enough when I can distiguish a text, say, in French, from German! :P (tell you, my friends here won’t manage that!) Anyway, here comes Danish! :D
“Vejen der ikke starter i hjertet ender blindt”…
“The course that does not begin in the heart ends in a blind alley”.
These cards were published by a university in Denmark to say that the education you choose should feel *right* to your heart :) Of course, it doesn’t make sense to spend years studying something you don’t feel close to your heart, no?
And another card with the same quote, only written with many different languages!! Ain’t this cool? :) But I don’t see Malay in here, hmm.. that would be more or less, “Pembelajaran yang tidak bermula dari hati akan berakhir dengan kegelapan”..
Now that my subject is language, how do you say “HAPPY POSTCARD FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY” in your language? (if it’s not English ;))
Selamat Hari Jumaat Persahabatan Poskad!! :D
Visit Marie’s for more PFF fun!! XD

Jun 5th, 2009The one with many languages is really cool.
I like the way some old postcards have “Post Card” written in many languages on the back.

Jun 5th, 2009I had not heard this saying before. But it seems very right, doesn’t it, for many things in life.

Jun 5th, 2009How true is the saying, one must have the passion for the course /career one chooses to study… incidentally, my son is in Form 6 and he doesn’t know what course he wants to take…

Jun 5th, 2009Like you I love postcards with a note on the back in any language. I have some Israeli cards. I think I’ll try an online translator to see if I can find out what they say. Thanks for giving me that idea with your great PFF post!

Jun 5th, 2009I haven’t heard that saying before, but a very wise one. I worked in a university and so many students choose courses for the wrong reason.
A French version of Happy postcard friendship Friday, though it doesn’t translate very well: Heureux vendredi d’amitié de cartes-postales. Marie could probably come up with something better.

Jun 6th, 2009Funny, because I remember I had to study a lot of general stuff that wasn’t specific to my course of study. They ought to put an asterisk next to their slogan, with some fine print at the bottom.
English is my milk tongue, but I imagine that for PFF in Turkish one might say: Kartpostal dostluk cumasi kutlu olsun!

Jun 6th, 2009Great postcards! I really like the one with all the different languages! Happy PFF (in boring ol’ English!)
